Artist Statement of Mark J. Shapiro
My personal journey into the world of art continues.
For me it is still a journey into the mind and soul. A vision I wish to share with friends, family and others.
It has been an especially difficult time adjusting to the loss over the past few years of my father, sister and mother, plus many kind and wonderful artist friends, who encouraged me to take a leap of faith into my personal exploration of art.
Reflection on what really counts in the world today has brought my viewpoint into this world into focus as I see things differently thru the lens of the camera or on canvas, paper, sculptures or the screen of a computer.
Blending art and technology has been both challenging and rewarding in seeing the technology progress to new levels for photography and for the purposes of creating new hybrid sculptures which incorporate found objects, computers, speakers and digital images captured as life goes on day to day here in coastal Maine and for my journey to South Eastern Russia.
I hope you enjoy my perspectives and thank you for taking time out to look at this world in a new and different light.
